The melanocytic skin lesion is originated from nevus cell, epidermal melanocyte, dermal melanocyte which have been classified & named with different type of histological and clinical features.
These skin lesions have been treated with versatile methods (Ex ; excision, electrosurgery, dermabrasion and LASER therapy) but no satisfactory method of treatment has yet been established. During the past 6 years and 3 months from January 1984, to March 1990, the authors performed cryotherapy for treatment of melanocytic nevi and Ota´s nevi and the other pigmented lesion(ex ´ melanosis Richl). We have been analysed the 48 cases of pigmented skin lesion which had treated with cryotherapy in retrospectively.
We found that it proved to be simple and useful treatment modality with scant risk of complications.
The result were as follows ;
1) The most frequent site of the nevi was the face (70%), the next was extremities, neck and trunk in order.
2) The most frequent age group was twentieth, the next was thirtieth and tenth. The female was about 3 times more than male.
3) the most frequent clinical types of treated nevi revealed as the Ota´s nevi (over 70%) and the others were mlanocytic nevi in geneanal.
